🌞 2022 JULY WRAP-UP🌞

SUMMARY

As you can see I’m not the fastest reader but I think there is a benefit to that. I simply take more time to enjoy, and ‘digest’ a book or to engage and be a part of each and every ‘imaginary’ world. I always felt like I have left a part of myself in there and took a little part of the story with me in exchange. As for July the best reading month I’ve had so far.

☀︎🍜i want to die but i want to eat tteokbokki by Baek Sehee and translated by Anton Hur was the first ‘self-help’ book I have ever read. As I’m not a big fan of these kinds of books I was a little hesitant about it.  So I only read with one eye open at a time. 😉

To my surprise, her raw honesty had a huge impact on me.

It takes enormous courage to open up about yourself even if it’s just the two of you (you and yourself or you and your therapist) but to be able to show this process to the whole world is on a different level. It was also short and easy to read which was an absolute bonus. I would love to read a fiction book from her in the future as I’m pretty curious about what she would write.

Highly recommend it to anyone who would like to read about mental health but doesn’t have the actual energy to do it.

☀︎🍊Briefly, A Delicious Life by Nell Stevens was love at first-page sight.

I mean I literally and platonically fell in love with her writing style.

Just like Blanca with George. The way she is able to describe Mallorca, different odours and the female body is just pure literary ecstasy. She was playing with all my senses how Chopin played on his piano. Again, I was absolutely shocked that one of my favourite books of the year is coming from a genre that is not my go-to. I loved everything about this book and will read anything from her in the future.

Highly recommend it to anyone who is still looking for an extraordinary summer book, loves historical fiction, and is interested in the life of George Sand, Chopin, and female artistry in general.

☀︎🌊Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin is probably the best thing that happened to me this year.

Not just the book deserves the utmost biggest hype that ever has been granted for a book, but the team behind it and Gabrielle herself as well.

I felt the closest connection with the characters and adored the way their friendship was not necessarily sexualized as it often happens with other authors’ books. It also inspired me as a person and as an artist to keep going which is the closest you can get to perfection. This book deserves the whole world and maybe even the other planets as well.

At least, in our Solar System.🪐

Highly recommend it to anyone who loves to read about complex relationships and fictional behind-the-scenes scenarios about video game designing.

Thank you so much for reading this far. Shares and re-posts are highly appreciated as it keeps me going when I feel utterly alone.
